Business Insider has reviewed a recent interview with Apple CEO Tim Cook that was conducted on the BBC Sound platform. In this discussion, Tim Cook explained exactly who he is willing to hire and what qualities he values most in candidates.

According to him, these qualities include the ability to collaborate and work in a team.

“It’s an incredible feeling to work with people that bring out the best in you, and fundamentally, we all believe that one plus one equals three. Your idea plus my idea is better than the individual ideas on their own.,” Tim Cook reasoned in the interview.

Among the candidates, he is interested in an inquisitive mind, not being afraid to ask questions, a creative attitude, and an idealistic desire to change the world.

At the same time, it is “not necessary” to have a higher education and programming skills.

CEO noted that his company hires people from “all walks of life”, including those without a college degree. He also mentioned that Apple employs people who rarely code or never knew how to program. The most important thing is curiosity, courage, creativity and the desire of future employees to change the world, not being satisfied with what is already there today, said the head of Apple.

But Business Insider notes that Apple’s job application process is “extremely rigorous.” According to some sources, in the past, it has happened multiple times that some candidates had to attend as many as 13 interviews, because the company very carefully monitors and selects those who are allowed to get acquainted with its secrets and products.
