If you are thinking about adding a new Nikon Z lens to your camera’s arsenal, it would be better to act sooner rather than later. That’s because the company has announced that the prices of some of their range will be increasing from the beginning of August 2022.
The background
Back in February 2022, Nikon released a statement: “Following a period of severe disruption in global supply chains, we have experienced continued cost increases to component parts and logistics charges. Whilst we have explored all options to absorb these costs, to maintain production on these lines moving forward, we are regrettably having to increase prices”.
US price rises
From April 2022, prices rose in several areas around the world, including Northern Europe. However, the US market somehow managed to escape these increases. Unfortunately, the US’ luck is about to come to an end; Nikon’s confirmed Z lens prices will go up from the end of this month.

In a statement to DPReview, Nikon Inc said: “Due to the impact of the increasing costs related to procurement and distribution, the price of some lenses has been increased. This change will be effective with retailers in the US starting August 1st”.
What will be affected?
In February, Nikon confirmed that the price hike would not just apply to Z lenses, but also apply to all cameras and lenses, excluding Sports Optics, Accessories and “certain new products,” such as the Z9. However, early indications suggest that only Nikon’s Z mount lenses and the company’s CFexpress memory card will be affected. The US price increases are listed in the table below:
