Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated on Wednesday that the electric vehicle company aims to start shipping its highly anticipated Roadster electric sports car next year.
In a post on X, Musk revealed that the design goals for the new Tesla Roadster have been significantly elevated. He further mentioned that the production design for the Roadster is set to be completed and unveiled by the end of this year.
Tesla CEO even shared some jokes about how good the new vehicle will be, in his opinion:
SpaceX option package for new Tesla Roadster will include ~10 small rocket thrusters arranged seamlessly around car. These rocket engines dramatically improve acceleration, top speed, braking & cornering. Maybe they will even allow a Tesla to fly …

Originally announced in 2017, the Roadster was initially scheduled for launch in 2020. However, due to global supply chain challenges, Musk postponed the release to 2023, expressing the company’s intention to commence production of the next-generation Roadster in the coming year.
