Aston Martin and the British titanium bicycle manufacturer J.Laverack have collaborated to introduce an unparalleled road bicycle named the J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R. To craft this bike, developers applied insights from high-performance automotive designers.
According to Aston Martin, the .1R stands out as the most customized, advanced, and meticulously engineered bicycle to date, incorporating several groundbreaking features.
To create this mode, engineers have employed innovative design and engineering approaches to create a seamlessly integrated design, visually appearing as if it has no bolts.
The J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R incorporates integration of parametrically designed, 3D printed titanium lugs and custom-crafted carbon fiber tubes. This results in a frame that delivers an exceptional combination of responsiveness and comfort.
The bike showcases unbroken lines where traditional bicycles typically have visible fixings, such as at the stem or seat post. The fully integrated four-piston brake calipers are a ground-up design, necessitating the development of specialized testing equipment. Consequently, there isn’t a single exposed cable or hose visible throughout the entire bicycle.
Incorporating innovations from realms beyond the conventional scope of bicycles, the .1R presents novel solutions at every turn.
Marek Reichman, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer at Aston Martin, expressed, “The J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R can be seen as a titanium hypercar on two wheels. The brilliance lies in seamlessly integrating engineering advancements across the bike with a performance-driven design, delivering an intensely exhilarating riding experience. The outcome is a distinctive form, born from a blend of tradition and technology, meticulously crafted using only the most cutting-edge materials.”
Customers will have the opportunity to specify their ideal version of the .1R through the seamless integration of the road bicycle into Aston Martin’s online configurator. This digital tool not only allows users to customize the saddle and handlebar tape but also enables them to individually select the color of various components such as tubes, lugs, forks, stem, seat post, and handlebar drops.
For those who appreciate the inherent beauty of carbon fiber, the material can be left exposed. Special ceramic coatings adorn accents like the bottom bracket cups, brake calipers, and brake disc centers, with options to highlight them in bronze or keep them understated in black.
Upon receiving their personalized J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R, customers will notice that each bike and its components, including hubs, cranks, and frame, are numbered, establishing a lasting connection within the ensemble. The bicycle will be accompanied by its own case, available in aluminum or carbon, serving both as a travel solution and a display platform for the .1R.
