On Wednesday, Intel announced the creation of a new independent company dedicated to its artificial intelligence software endeavors, receiving support from DigitalBridge Group and other investors focused on digital assets.

Intel did not disclose the deal’s value or clarify if it would maintain a majority stake in the newly formed entity. The company confirmed that Articul8 AI, the name of the non-publicly traded venture, would have an independent board of directors, and Intel would retain its position as a shareholder.

Leveraging one of its supercomputers, Intel created a generative AI system capable of processing text and images through a blend of open-source and proprietary technology. Intel adapted the system to operate within Boston Consulting Group data centers in order to ensure compliance with privacy-related regulations. Articul8 will be led by Arun Subramaniyan.

Articul8 will focus on bridging gaps in generative AI implementation.

Intel’s creation of Articul8 represents its ongoing strategy of seeking external funding for business divisions.
