Roland has announced a new portable audio/video mixer. The Roland SR-20HD Direct Streaming AV Mixer aims to make it easy for businesses and organizations to livestream with minimal training.
Here are a few ways this new switch looks to improve your livestreams.
1. The Roland SR-20HD mixer an all-in-one-solution, simplifying the setting up process and operation
The Roland SR-20HD Direct Streaming AV Mixer combines a video switcher, audio mixer, preview screen, recorder/player and streaming encoder all in one unit. It has everything you need to switch and stream; you don’t even need a computer. The SR-20HD’s Standard mode supports 1080p resolution at 30 fps. However, you can select High Quality mode to increase the frame rate to 60 fps if you’re broadcasting live sports or other events with fast movement.

2. Roland included multiple video and audio inputs on the SR-20HD mixer
You can connect cameras, smartphones, tablets or computers running presentation software to the two HMDI inputs on the SR-20HD. You can also connect a Roland UVC device or compatible webcam to the USB video input. In addition, there is a wide range of audio inputs for mics, music players, electronic musical instruments and more.
3. The Roland SR-20HD mixer supports safe and secure streaming
Once you have your video and audio sources plugged in, you simply connect the SR-20HD to your network router to begin your livestream. You can also tether your smartphone with a 4G or 5G connection as the main streaming connection or a backup. In addition, the SR-20HD has an Adaptive Bitrate function. This feature monitors the quality of your network connection and automatically adjusts the streaming rate if you experience bandwidth issues.
4. There’s support for simplified recording and playback
The Roland SR-20HD mixer includes an onboard recorder. This feature lets you capture H.264 MP4 video to an SDXC card for editing or uploading. In addition, you can record stereo WAV audio for podcasts and other audio media. You can also playback video clips, images and audio files from the SDXC card to include in your livestreams.
5. There’s advanced audio control as well
Roland’s SR-20HD has an audio mixer with eight input channels for mics and line level devices. You can connect up to four professional XLR microphones, line-level signals and a headset mic. You can also mix in digital audio from HDMI and USB sources, plus audio from videos and music files stored on an SDXC card. In addition, the SR-20HD has dedicated faders and knobs to adjust the volume levels and apply EQ and dynamics processing.
6. The Roland SR-20HD has automated switching and mixing as well
The SR-20HD includes tools to automate video switching and audio mixing tasks to ease your workload. You can change video input sources at predetermined time intervals to make your presentation more dynamic. The audio Auto Mixing function ensures that the mix between your connected microphones remains balanced. You can also set specific inputs to take priority when someone starts to speak. This means that other audio levels are automatically reduced as needed.
Pricing and availability
The Roland SR-20HD Direct Streaming AV Mixer will be available in the US in Q3 2022 for $2,095.
