Color accuracy

The ViewFinity S8 monitors are professionally calibrated in the factory and have a wide color gamut up to 98 percent of DCI-P3. DCI-P3 is a color space commonly used in digital cinema and is the color standard for the film industry. This means that the ViewFinity S8 monitors are perfect for video editing.

HDR

The 32-inch ViewFinity S8 monitor is certified to the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) DisplayHDR 600 standards. This means it has a minimum brightness of 600cd/m2 (nits). The smaller 27-inch model is certified to DisplayHDR 600 with a minimum brightness of 400cd/m2 (nits).

One billion colors

The ViewFinity S8 monitors can display one billion different colors with a contrast ratio of 1000:1. This means you will see clear images with vibrant color reproduction. Samsung hasn’t said that the monitor is 10-bit, so it is most likely an 8-bit + Frame Rate Control (FRC) display which is the norm for this price range. FRC makes pixels flash two alternating colors to display 10-bit images on an 8-bit display.

Pantone

The ViewFinity S8 monitors also have Pantone validation. This means that the displays can authentically reproduce more than 2000 Pantone colors. In addition, the monitors can accurately display the newly added 110 skin tone shades found in the PANTONE SkinTone Guide.

Glare free

The ViewFinity S8 monitors are the world’s first UL-verified, glare-free monitors. To achieve this, Samsung has applied a Matte Display on the panel, reducing light reflection even when not using a monitor hood. The monitors also have a wide viewing angle.

Ergonomic stand

The ViewFinity S8 monitors have an ergonomic stand for maximum comfort in use. The stand allows for easy height and tilt adjustment so you can ensure that the display is at the perfect angle for you. The stand also gives you a wide horizontal swivel option in case your desk space is limited. In addition, you can rotate the screen 90 degrees on the stand to use it in vertical or portrait mode.

Intelligent Eye Care

The ViewFinity S8 monitors have certification from TÜV Rheinland for Intelligent Eye Care. The displays have Adaptive Picture mode, which automatically adjusts the brightness and color temperature to give optimal picture quality. In addition, Eye Saver mode reduces the level of blue light for eye comfort. The monitors are also flicker free to protect your eyes from the strain caused by constant flickering.

Optimized workspace

The ViewFinity S8 monitors have been designed to be part of a simple and efficient workstation. You can connect them with a single USB-C cable which will carry display signals, 10 Gbps data transfers and fast internet speeds via an Ethernet connection. If you are connecting a laptop the cable will also give you fast charging with up to 90 W power.

Sustainability

Samsung has developed a new material, made with repurposed ocean-bound plastics. This is used to make the rear monitor covers of the ViewFinity S8 monitors. It helps to reduce marine waste and minimize the environmental footprint of the monitors. Samsung also says it is using more recycled plastics to produce its display products than it did in 2021. In addition, Samsung’s Eco Savings Plus technology also reduces pixel brightness in sections of an image with black pixels. This gives up to a 10 percent reduction in power consumption.

Pricing and availability

Samsung says that the ViewFinity S8 monitors will be available globally from the end of June, with launch schedules varying by region. There is no indication of US pricing as yet. However, the new monitors are available in Korea, priced at 720,000 Won for the 27-inch model and 820,000 Won for the 32-inch version. t the time of writing these prices equate to around $555 and $632 respectively.
