ProGrade Digital has announced a new USB card reader. The ProGrade Digital PGM0.5 mobile card reader is much smaller than the company’s previous card readers and is designed to be super portable. So how does it shape up?

Dual slot

The PGM0.5 mobile card reader has two card slots, one for SDXC and one for microSDXC UHS-II memory cards. Although the new device is small, it still maintains the same transfer speeds as ProGrade Digital’s larger readers. The PGM0.5 card reader supports a data transfer speed of up to 5 Gb/s (625 MB/s).

USB-C

The PGM0.5 mobile card reader has a built-in USB 3.2 Type-C connector. This means you can plug the card reader directly into your device. In addition, as it is a USB-C connector, it can be inserted facing in either direction.

As well as Windows and Apple computers, it is also compatible with Apple and Android mobile devices, including iPads and smartphones that support Type C. When using the PGM0.5 mobile card reader on a mobile device, you can only use one card slot at a time. However, on a desktop or laptop computer, you can use both at the same time.
