Cosina has announced two new Voigtlander prime lenses for cameras with a Nikon Z mount. The Voigtlander Macro APO-Ultron D35mm F2 lens is designed for mirrorless cameras with an APS-C size sensor. However, the Voigtlander Nokton 40mm F1.2 Aspherical lens covers a full-frame image circle.
Cosina’s Voigtlander Macro APO-Ultron D35mm
The Macro APO-Ultron D35mm lens has a maximum aperture of F2 with a 10-bladed iris. This means you should get a soft, rounded bokeh in out-of-focus areas. In addition, the lens has a minimum focusing distance of around 6.4 inches (0.163 m). Optically, the lens has six groups with nine elements, including three abnormal partial-dispersion glass elements. Cosina also says that the apochromatic design provides natural color reproduction without color blurring.
Build
Cosina’s Macro APO-Ultron D35mm lens weighs only 10.2 ounces (290 g) and is only 2.23 inches (56.7 mm) long. Despite this, the focus mechanism uses a full metal helicoid unit. This should ensure smooth focusing action. The D35 mm lens is fully manual. However, it also has electronic contacts, which means it can communicate with a compatible camera. As such, it supports features such as focus peaking and will pass EXIF information. Finally, the filter thread size is 52 mm.

The Nokton 40mm F1.2 Aspherical lens has a high-speed maximum aperture of F1.2. As with the D35mm, the aperture has ten blades to give a soft, circular bokeh. The optical construction consists of eight elements in six groups, including two double-sided aspherical lenses. The 40 mm lens also has a good close focus distance of just under 12 inches (0.3 m).
Build
Despite its wide aperture, the Nokton 40mm F1.2 Aspherical is still a compact lens. It’s only 2.12 inches (53.9 mm) long and weighs only 11.1 ounces (315 g). However, it still uses a full-metal helicoid focusing unit, as with the D35mm. The Nokton 40mm lens also has electronic contacts and supports features such as focus peaking. The filter thread is 58 mm.
