Ubisoft Forward Confirmed For June, Same Week As Summer Game Fest

Ubisoft Forward Confirmed For June, Same Week As Summer Game Fest

Ubisoft Forward will return to Los Angeles this summer during the same week as Geoff Keighley’s annual Summer Game Fest event, the company has revealed. More specifically, Ubisoft Forward will take place on Monday, June 10.

While Ubisoft Forward and Summer Game Fest aren’t technically connected, they typically take place during the same time frame in LA, and this year is no different. With Summer Game Fest’s livestream set for June 7, with the invite-only media and influencer event for hands-on gameplay with upcoming games set for June 8 through June 10, it seems press, influencers, and fans will cap off the summer’s gaming streams with Ubisoft Forward.

As for what to expect, Ubisoft hasn’t shared anything. However, with a slew of upcoming and in-development games like Star Wars Outlaws, Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, XDefiant, and The Division Heartland, there’s plenty we might see at this year’s Ubisoft Forward event. Only time will tell.

In the meantime, read about the reveal of Assassin’s Creed Codename Red and Codename Hexe, and then check out the gameplay debut of Star Wars Outlaws. After that, check out our hands-on gameplay with XDefiant, and then watch the latest trailer for The Division Heartland

Ninja Theory Co-Founder, Hellblade Director Tameem Antoniades No Longer At Studio

Ninja Theory Co-Founder, Hellblade Director Tameem Antoniades No Longer At Studio

Ninja Theory co-founder and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice writer and director Anteem Antoniades has left the company. This news comes from a new Polygon preview of Ninja Theory’s upcoming release, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, which hits Xbox Series X/S and PC on May 21, as reported by VideoGamesChronicle

Polygon noticed during a hands-on preview of Hellblade II at Ninja Theory’s Cambridge, U.K.-based studio that there was no trace of Antoniades. A spokesperson for Xbox confirmed later that Antoniades was no longer working at Ninja Theory.

“On my visit, there was no sign or mention of Ninja Theory’s flamboyant founder and Hellblade writer-director Tameem Antoniades,” Polygon writes in its Hellblade II preview. “An Xbox spokesperson later confirmed to Polygon that he is no longer with the studio. Antoniades was involved in Hellblade 2 in the early stages, but the game now has a trio of creative leads: environment art director Dan Attwell, visual effects director Mark Slater-Tunstill, and audio director David Garcia.”

Beyond the Hellblade series, Antoniades also worked on Ninja Theory’s Heavenly Sword, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, and DmC: Devil May Cry

Hellblade II hits Xbox Series X/S and PC on May 21.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Locked To 30 FPS On Xbox Series X/S, According To VFX Director

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Locked To 30 FPS On Xbox Series X/S, According To VFX Director

A fresh new batch of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II previews have dropped today, which is how we learned Ninja Theory co-founder and Hellblade director-writer Anteem Antoniades is no longer at the studio. It’s also how we learned the game will run at 30 FPS on Xbox Series X/S.

Speaking to German publication GamePro, Hellblade II visual effects director Mark Slater-Tunstill confirmed the game will run at 30 FPS alongside dynamic scaling on Xbox Series X/S, as reported by Wccftech. Slater-Tunstill told GamePro the 30 FPS makes sense with the game’s more cinematic nature. However, if you’re after higher frames, a beefier PC can likely accomplish that.

Regardless of frames, Hellblade II is sure to be stunning visually. Developed in Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5, Ninja Theory told Polygon this engine has allowed the game’s more realistic nature to be achievable, thanks to its Nanite geometry system and because “the turnaround between scanning the thing and putting it in the level is drastically cut, and you can spend that time finessing.” Be sure to read Polygon’s full Hellblade II preview for more details on what to expect visually from this game.

7 strategic ransomware remediation tactics for enterprise resilience – CyberTalk

7 strategic ransomware remediation tactics for enterprise resilience – CyberTalk

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

For businesses of all sizes, ransomware is a growing threat. Ransomware typically encrypts critical data, rendering it completely or partially inaccessible until a ransom is paid. The downtime, data loss, and reputational damage caused by ransomware can be devastating.

Despite the doomsday sentiment around ransomware, there are effective strategies for ransomware remediation. By implementing a robust response plan, organizations can minimize damage and recover quickly. In this article, explore seven strategic tactics for ransomware remediation. Enhance your enterprise resilience.

1. Incident response plan

The foundation of successful ransomware remediation is a well-defined incident response plan. This plan outlines the steps to take upon detecting a ransomware attack, including:

  • Identification and containment: Identifying the infected systems and isolating them to prevent further spread.
  • Impact assessment: Determining the extent of the attack and the criticality of affected data.
  • Extraction: Removing the ransomware from infected systems while preserving clean data.
  • Recovery: Restoring critical systems and data from secure backups.
  • Reporting and learning: Reporting the incident to relevant authorities and conducting a post-mortem analysis to identify weaknesses and improve future response.

A comprehensive incident response plan empowers teams to act swiftly and decisively during a ransomware attack. Regularly test and update the plan to ensure effectiveness.

2. Prioritize backups

Regular backups are the cornerstone of a successful ransomware remediation strategy.
Key backup considerations:

  • Backup frequency: Implement a backup schedule that balances data protection with storage requirements. Consider the criticality of data and how often it changes.
  • Backup location: Store backups offsite and in the cloud to prevent them from being compromised alongside primary data.
  • Backup testing: Regularly test backups to ensure that they are complete and readily recoverable.

3. Patch management

Outdated software with known vulnerabilities is a prime target for ransomware groups. A robust patch management system ensures timely updates for operating systems, applications, and firmware throughout your network. Prioritize the patching of critical systems and those with known vulnerabilities that ransomware gangs are actively using.

4. User education

Employees often unintentionally introduce ransomware through phishing emails, malicious attachments or unsecured websites. Consistent cyber security awareness training can enable employees to identify and avoid these threats.

Training should cover topics such as:

  • Phishing email identification: Teach employees to recognize red flags in emails, such as suspicious sender addresses, urgency tactics, and grammatical errors.
  • Attachment safety: Emphasize caution when opening attachments, especially from unknown senders.
  • Website security: Educate employees around identifying secure websites with HTTPS protocols.

5. Network segmentation

Segmenting your network creates logical barriers between different parts of your infrastructure. This limits the ability of ransomware to spread laterally within the network if a system is compromised.

Network segmentation can be achieved through:

  • Firewalls: Implement firewalls to control traffic flow between network segments.
  • VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks): Create separate VLANs for different departments or functions to isolate sensitive data.

6. Endpoint detection and response (EDR)

EDR solutions go beyond traditional antivirus software by continuously monitoring endpoint activity for suspicious behavior. They can detect ransomware attempts in real-time, allowing for swift intervention before significant damage occurs.

7. Consider a managed security service provider (MSSP)

Maintaining a strong cyber security posture can be a complex and resource-intensive task. Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs) offer a range of services, including threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management.

Partnering with an MSSP can augment your internal security team’s expertise and provide 24/7 monitoring and support.

Check Point Infinity: empowering ransomware resilience

While these seven tactics provide a strong foundation for ransomware remediation, organizations can further enhance their security posture with Check Point’s Infinity platform.

Check Point Infinity is a comprehensive, AI-powered, and cloud-delivered security platform that safeguards your organization from sophisticated cyber threats, including ransomware. Here’s how Infinity empowers ransomware resilience:

Stellar Blade Director Reveals New Game Plus Mode, Says No Microtransactions With One Exception

Stellar Blade Director Reveals New Game Plus Mode, Says No Microtransactions With One Exception

Stellar Blade director Kim Hyung Tae has announced that developer ShiftUp’s upcoming action game, Stellar Blade, will get a New Game+ mode sometime after launch. Plus, Tae says there will be no microtransactions in the game, save for one theoretical exception.

This news comes from a new interview with Korean publication Ruliweb, where Tae explained that while Stellar Blade will have a New Game+ mode at some point, it won’t be available at launch, as translated by Genki_JPN on Twitter. Tae also told Ruliweb that players should not expect any microtransactions in Stellar Blade, but notes that one exception would be paid collaborations with another company’s IP.

“We want to make it clear at this point that Stellar Blade will not require any additional expenses that gamers are not aware of beyond what they paid for the package,” Tae told Ruliweb. “The only exception is if we create collaboration costumes with another company’s IP; those may be sold for a fee. Also, there is no New Game+ in the launch version, so please look forward to it being updated very soon.”

Given that no collaborations have been announced at this point, Tae is likely just checking bases for hypothetical collaborations ShiftUp may or may not be pursuing. At any rate, given the popularity of ShiftUp’s Goddess of Victory: NIKKE game on mobile devices, it’s possible we see an internal collaboration between those two properties.

Stellar Blade is an action game launching on PlayStation 5 exclusively on April 26. It was announced in 2021 as Project EVE. There is a demo for Stellar Blade available on PSN that you can download right now if you’re curious about how the game plays.

Flint: Treasure Of Oblivion Is A Turn-Based Tactical RPG Set In A World Of Piracy

Flint: Treasure Of Oblivion Is A Turn-Based Tactical RPG Set In A World Of Piracy

Publisher Microids and newcomer developer Savage Level have revealed Flint: Treasure of Oblivion, a turn-based tactical RPG set in a world of piracy. This swashbuckling debut from Savage Level is due out in Q4 of this year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and if today’s debut trailer is any indication, it looks like a game worth keeping a spyglass on.

Savage Level describes Flint as a double-A game that takes inspiration from one of piracy’s most famed fictional stories: Treasure Island.

“Prepare to weigh anchor alongside Captain Flint, his trusty first mate Billy Bones, and their crew of seasoned sea dogs as they set sail in search of a legendary treasure promisin’ freedom and fortune,” a press release reads. “With a yarn spun in the traditional style of comic strips, Flint: Treasure of Oblivion invites ye to dive headfirst into a historically accurate pirate adventure spiced up with a dash of fantasy.”

Check out the Flint: Treasure of Oblivion reveal trailer for yourself below

Savage Level says the game’s turn-based combat mechanics are as tricky as navigating through a storm; picking the right crew for the job will matter all the more because of it. Each crew member brings their own unique skills to the table, and players will need to adapt on the fly to take down foes and more. Players will use cards to trigger skills and attributes all while influencing the fight with key dice throws.

The team describes the game’s narrative as similar to that of a comic book, with speech bubbles, onomatopoeia, and comic strips.

“Discover a magnificent world, from the French city of Saint-Malo to the exotic landscapes of Central America,” a press release reads. Plus, diverse environments include cities, camps, jungles, and caves, all built in Unreal Engine 5. Players can don historically accurate costumes and weapons, too.

Here are some additional Flint: Treasure of Oblivion screenshots
